Live Life with Flavor Challenge Day 9 – Liquid Food on the Run

Today is Day 9 in the Live Life with Flavor Challenge, and Tone Body Thursday!

Sometimes, life gets in the way; and as busy, entrepreneur moms, we often find ourselves in the position of not having 3 full meals a day. So, I am going to share with you, exactly, what I do in order to feel good and stay healthy when life gets REALLY busy!

I like to call it Liquid Food on the Run! A.K.A – Smoothies!

Oh yeah!!

Like you, I have children and run my own business. While I am very good at making sure my children have 3 meals a day and that all my work gets done, there are times I am not as good about taking care of myself. So, over the last couple of years, I began to embrace smoothies in my lifestyle.


Smoothies are a great way to get the nutrition you need in order to continue feeling energetic and strong!

Not to mention, for those women who don’t feel up to juicing yet, it’s a great alternative that still provides you with all the advantages fruit and vegetables can supply.

Personally, I start with the fruits (frozen or fresh), then add yogurt (a great form of protein &  substitute for milk), a little bit of soaked almonds (protein), and finish it off with the greens (fresh or frozen).

As you become more adventurous, add more greens to your shakes and/or spices. As you do, I can guarantee that it will help your system run smoothly and make you feel better!

A great example of being adventurous is that one of my friends had broccoli in the fridge that needed to get eaten, so for breakfast she added it to her shake! Hmm…

I would recommend that you not start out as audaciously as she did! Start with small steps, and whatever you do, if you are substituting a meal always add protein for energy…

Here is a recipe that is both beautiful and delicious to get you started!

2 Bananas

1/2 cup Blueberries

2 Oranges peeled

1/2 cup Red grapes

1/2 cup Green grapes

1 cup Spinach (you can substitute with kale, arugula, or collard greens)

1/2 cup Cherries

1/3 cup Yogurt

10 soaked Almonds

Throw it all into the blender and press puree. Then sit and enjoy the simplicity of your labor…
