Today is Day 4 of the Live Life with Flavor Challenge and Tone body Thursday! 

When I was a young mom, I didn’t have the energy to be the mom or wife that I wanted to be.

Without realizing it, I struggled with anemia for most of my life! Because my lifestyle and my inability to take care of myself, I constantly struggled with exhaustion, headaches and frustration. Especially, when my first three children were very young! Needless to say, it created greater tension in the family and greater tension in my body.

Somewhere along the way, I learned a couple of simple techniques that helped me to Live Life with Flavor and have a Tone Body. The technique I am going to share with you today is something that everyone has heard many times, but I am going to explain why it is SOOOO important!

Yes, it’s rudimentary. However, many people don’t know that in order to consume the right amount of water for your body you need to drink: 

Body weight in ounces divided in half.

I weigh about 112 pounds right now. So my minimal water intake should be:

112 ounces / 2 = 56 ounces a day

Why do I need to drink that much?

Our bodies are made up of 60 -70% of water. That means your bones, muscles, organs, and brain need water to function correctly.

My husband recently picked up a book by Fereydoon Batmanghelidj called Your Body’s Many Cries for Water. In it, the author explains what people often take as signs of sickness is really a cry of thirst and dehydration…

Think about it! When a grape gets dehydrated, it becomes a raison. When we don’t drink enough water, our brain, in consequence cries out desperately for water. By drinking water, the pressure releases and the headaches dissipate!

Lacking energy in the mornings after a holiday weekend? During a national holiday, American’s consume a higher level of sodiums and sugars than on a regular day… As a result, we wake up the next morning completely depleted before the day has ever begun. It is especially during and after a day like Labor day, that we must drink water. Remember that the core of our cells are made of water!

As mom, business woman, and wife there is always a lot that needs to get done. We have kids and husbands to love, cleaning to do, and a world to change. We can’t afford to continually feel tired, struggle with headaches or body aches, so drink up ladies!

For today’s challenge, I encourage you to find a system of drinking water that works for you! Then, commit to it and work diligently until it becomes a habit. 

Every morning when I wake up I add a 1/2 lemon or lemon essential oil to my 20 ounce glass of water, so it will alkaline my body. Then, every time I walk into the kitchen I grab that 20 ounce glass again, refill it and drink it immediately.
